Bio

Christoph Lohr is IAPMO’s Vice President of Technical Services and Research.  As part of his duties he provides industry leadership through participation in strategic industry initiatives, and provide technical support to all IAPMO’s business units as needed. Christoph has over a decade of experience in designing plumbing systems and has a reputation as a results-oriented expert, particularly in the realm of balancing waterborne pathogen prevention and water sustainability. Through his concentrated focus and systems-based approach he has honed his personal and organization's strategy on possible breakthrough points. It is with this mindset that Christoph consistently looks to find long-term, holistic solutions that positively impact public health and safety of plumbing systems and improving strategy development. With this experience, Christoph shapes the industry by regularly sharing his thoughts via speaking engagements and writing. He is a distinguished graduate from the Virginia Military Institute, with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. 

Awards & Recognition

  • The American Society of Plumbing Engineers’ Kenneth G. Wentink Award of Excellence honors those individuals who have worked unselfishly for and on behalf of the Society, with little fanfare and often with minimal visibility to the leadership and members of ASPE. This is not an annual award, but it is used in special cases to recognize exemplary Chapters, individuals, or organizations.

  • In 2019, PHCPPros launched the “Millennials On The Move” honorary listing in Plumbing Engineer, PHC News and The Wholesaler magazines.   • Christoph has over a decade of experience in designing plumbing systems and has a reputation as a results-oriented expert, particularly in the realm of balancing waterborne pathogen prevention and water sustainability. Experienced plumbing engineer with a focus in the areas of plumbing, domestic water, medical gas, and sanitary systems. Career highlights include:

    • He is a licensed professional engineer (PE) in eight states, has his Certified-in-Plumbing-Design (CPD) certification from ASPE, he is a LEED BD+C Accredited Professional, and has his ASSE 12080 Legionella Mitigation Specialist designation.

    • Provided engineering leadership for plumbing and medical gas systems for commercial buildings including hospitals, laboratories, hospitality, high-rise, stadiums, schools, retail, offices, and universities.

    • Designed HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, and other industrial buildings.

    • Engineer of record for 250,000 square foot laboratory building core and shell, and oversaw .

    • Led the plumbing team in Arizona which accomplished 100% of its work while 30% understaffed.
